i hate it when someone who is straight plays as someone who is gay! like what!? you played gay for two hours and got an oscar and i played straight for 17 years and just got trauma!!

Pretty much everyone in The Last Airbender movie. Most of the characters were whitewashed and the overall acting was just terrible.

Don’t get me started....the entire Percy Jackson movie cast. First off: The movies are trash, even without the casting. Second: The actors are great and all and i’m sure they are fantastic in other roles, but why did they cast everyone YEARS older than they were supposed to be?? disgusting.

(except the pjo movies never happened, we do not speak of them.)

Anthony Hopkins in silence of the lambs, they should have got a real cannibal to play him. 
Chris Hemsworth as Thor??? I mean- should’ve been a real asgardian man; come on...!
And Jim Parsons in BBT, I mean- he plays a straight person... should’ve got a real straight person- just appalling really!

Sirius, Lupin, Pettigrew, and Snape in the Harry Potter series. They were in there 30s in the books, but all the actors were in there late 40s+. James and Lily were only 21 when they were killed so the people in their class should have been 31-33 in the first movie and 38-40 in the last. Their young age is supposed emphasize the tragedy of their deaths.

Emma Stone cast as Allison NG who is supposed to be 1/4 native Hawaiian and 1/4 Chinese in Aloha... c'mon!

I hear y’all, fam, these castings were disrespectful. But honestly, when are we gonna let these go? Buzzfeed just had an article like two weeks ago calling out the same people.

Oh FFS. Firstly its acting, not white washing - except the persia thing. And half of those movies wouldn't get made if they didn't have a star attached. At least it's bringing those issues to the forefront and letting people see non-cis characters, that wouldn't happen if it ended up being some tiny arthouse flick which would have happened with a non-star. What about that film SC was going to play a TS in, but outcry made her step away - and it got cancelled. Great work. I get the need to give non-cis, differently albed actors a chance but would any of those movies have gotten made? Isn't it equally offensive to only cast an autistic person in a role that requires autisim? Where does it stop? A brit played superman, an american played sherlock, it's acting not actual life.
And for the love of god, did this hack watch the GitS remake? The whole point was identity, that she was a ghost. in. a shell.

We all love a good Netflix sesh, but sometimes Hollywood misses the mark and casts an actor who really doesn't fit the role.

Like when Sia cast Maddie Ziegler as an autistic teenager in her feature film, Music.

Or when Jared Leto, who is cisgender, played a transgender woman in Dallas Buyers Club.

Maybe you remember when Scarlett Johansson was cast as Motoko Kusanagi in the adaptation of Japanese manga series, Ghost in the Shell.

This got me wondering, what other major casting blunder has Hollywood made? Tell us a time someone was cast who really didn't fit the role. You could be featured in a Viral News Only Community post.
