Demi Moore Gave An Update On Bruce Willis's Condition Following His Dementia Diagnosis

"When you show up to meet them where they're at, there is great beauty and sweetness."

Demi Moore shared an update on how things are going with the care of her ex-husband, Bruce Willis.

The two were married from 1987–2000 and share three daughters together. Though Bruce went on to remarry and have two children with Emma Heming Willis, the blended family has remained close — with everyone spending the COVID-19 lockdown together.

However, last year the Willis family confirmed that Bruce's aphasia had progressed to frontotemporal dementia. "Unfortunately, challenges with communication are just one symptom of the disease Bruce faces. While this is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis," they said in a statement at the time.

This weekend, Demi was asked about Bruce's condition while being honored with the Career Achievement in Acting Award at the 2024 Hamptons International Film Festival. "You know, I've said this before. The disease is what the disease is. And I think you have to be in real deep acceptance of what that is. But for where he's at, he is stable," she replied, as per footage captured by People.

"What I always encourage is to just meet them where they're at. When we're holding on to what was, I think it's a losing game," she continued. "But when you show up to meet them where they're at, there is great beauty and sweetness."

"I was there two days ago with my granddaughter," Demi continued, noting that she felt thankful to be "able to share with whatever we have, for however long we have it."
