What's Something Everyone Should Do Before They Leave High School?

Years from now they'll cherish this recording because it'll remind them of what their friend group was really like (and how close they were, too).

They'll be glad they took a little time to write down the good AND the bad so that in the future they'll remember it as it really was.

Better to go than to regret it later.

They'll have to do it when they move into a dorm or their own place, so they might as well start now when their parents are around to explain what "tumble dry low" means.

Please stop giving a fuck about what other people think

Separate yourself and your future plans from any high school boyfriend or girlfriend. You should be picking your college, major, career, etc based upon your dreams and goals, not someone else’s. Don’t let any high school relationship limit you or pull you in the wrong direction. Odds are you’ll break up by the end of your first semester of college anyway

Break up with your boyfriend. I know you think you will make it, and you might for a while, but realistically (and statistically), you just aren’t going to. People change so significantly when they go to college and if you two don’t change together in ways that are compatible, you won’t last. That combined with the stress of starting college and what will usually be a long distance relationship usually make for a bad recipe. The entire 4 years I was in undergrad, every freshman I knew who came in with a boyfriend ended up single by the end of the first year except for two people, and in one of those couples, they both went to the same school.

First, you absolutely must graduate. If you are in any danger of not graduating then you need to get it together now and do whatever it takes to get that diploma. You will do terrible damage to yourself if you don’t.

Second, you have to be kind to others. You have no idea how much your words and actions affect those around you. But don’t be afraid to have fun and be true to yourself. It’s a short life we get so have fun while you’re young and not reporting to work every day. 

Last bit of advice, don’t get too attached to plans now but you should start making them. Follow a passion, never stop learning and trying to make your life the life your future you will thank you for. Eventually you’ll look around you and see positive decisions reflecting back at you instead of regrets piling up. And make sure those decisions are for you and not those around you.

Have good lives kids!! And grow up to put all past generations to shame with your creative brilliance!!

if you have a teacher who has ever made you feel less than your worth, or treated you like the runt TELL THEM OFF. YOU DID IT. some teachers deserve to be held accountable for making you feel this way! i LIVED after i told my history teacher as a senior that him trying to embarrass me in the classroom only pushed me to do better, and that his constant heckling and side comments to me made me realize HE was the problem. i loved myself so hard for doing it.

Give a shit about something. In high school there will be people who dismiss things that you are passionate about or will call them lame or stupid. It’s cool to care about things it actually makes you an interesting person and if anyone tells you different tell them to fuck off!

What I wish I done before leaving high school, be an actual kid as I spent so much time worrying about my future self that I didn't do things that only young teens could get away with. 
Have fun! Don't worry about romantic relationships or he said she said drama. By the time you are in your 20's you will realise how much of a child you really were in high school and that you didn't know everything and what's best for you. So listen more to your teachers and parents as they really do care for your future.

Thank your favorite teachers! Teachers are so under appreciated and they work so hard! I promise it will mean so much to them if you thank them.

Skip school AT LEAST once. I was a straight-A student all through high school and senior year I rewarded myself by taking time for ME, going out, getting lunch, or going to see a movie with a friend instead of going to class. It helped me to look back and cherish the time I had instead of looking back and thinking of all the things I could have been doing.

Cut class. It's an exctiting thing to do and feels super wrong but it always gives birth to fun stories.

What's Something Everyone Should Do Before They Leave High School?

For high school seniors, graduation day is quickly approaching!

That means that — whether they LOVE high school or HATE it — they'll soon be done walking these halls for good.

So, let's help them out and tell them the things they absolutely should do before they do this:

For example, they could make an audio recording of themselves hanging out with their friends.

Or they could tell the teachers who've meant something to them just that — and get their contact information too.

Another idea: Make a list of the best and worst things about high school.

If they have even a smidgen of interest in going to prom, they should.

And, if they haven't already, they should start doing their own laundry!
