19 Times TV Shows Made Me Crack Up On The Couch By Making Fun Of Their Own Characters

    One of my favorite things is to make fun of TV shows and characters.

    But I find it even funnier when the characters are roasted by the OTHER characters on the show — especially when they imitate them.

    Here are my absolute favorite imitations from TV!

    1. Jim imitating Dwight in The Office:

    Jim dressed as Dwight saying "Beats, Beets, 'Battlestar Galactica'"

    The enunciation!

    2. ...And Dwight imitating Jim:

    Jim drumming his hands on Pam's desk and saying "Pam" then looking at the camera and saying "I'm Jim Hapert...(gibberish)...little comment..."

    Oh, Dwight. He tried so hard.

    3. Joey imitating Chandler on Friends:

    NBC

    The inflection!! Literally one of the most iconic Friends moments.

    4. Cordelia imitating Angel on Angel:

    Cordelia pretends to read and says, "This is Angel...Oh no, I can't do anything fun tonight. I have to count my past sins then alphabetize them...Oh, by the way, I'm thinking of snapping on Friday"

    ROAST HIMMMM!!

    5. Damon imitating Stefan writing in his diary on The Vampire Diaries:

    "Dear Diary. A chipmunk asked me my name today. I told him it was Joe. That lie will haunt me forever"

    This has got to be one of my favorite Vampire Diaries lines.

    6. Haley imitating Lucas on One Tree Hill:

    Haley saying, "Jeez Haley...I-I-I-I-I don't know. This really meant a lot to...Peyton"

    The flexing! The smolder!!

    7. ...And Peyton:

    Haley saying "But Haley" and opening her mouth in shock like Peyton

    Okay, this facial expression was Peyton's EXACT scared expression and you can't tell me otherwise.

    8. Willow imitating Anya on Buffy the Vampire Slayer:

    Willow pretending to be Anya saying, "I like money better than people. People can so rarely be exchanged for goods and/or services!"

    9. Rufus pretending to be Lily to help Serena on Gossip Girl:

    Rufus with his fingers on his forehead sucking in his cheeks and looking haughty
    The CW

    Literally all he needed to do was this face.

    10. Jess doing this terrible imitation of Nick on New Girl:

    Jess saying, "I'm Nick! I hate sunshine! When did gum get so fancy? This escalator goes too fast" in an old-timey elderly man voice

    Nick's face says it all — she did get the vibe right overall, though.

    11. Alexis imitating Moira for a commercial on Schitt's Creek:

    Alexis speaking for a VO commercial with a breathy voice and strange accent: "Try one of our in-flight meals if you dare at Larry Air"

    This is definitely one you gotta watch.

    12. Zuko imitating Uncle Iroh and Azula on Avatar: The Last Airbender:

    Imitating Iroh: "Zuko, you have to look within yourself to save yourself from your other self. Only then will your true self reveal itself." Imitating Azula: "I can join your group, or I can do something unspeakably horrible to you and your friends."

    13. Leslie imitating Tom on Parks and Recreation:

    Jerry says to Leslie, "Imagine what Tom would've said" and Leslie, imitating Tom to the camera, says, "Damnnnn, Jerry! You jumped in a creek for a burrito? What would you do for a Klondike Bar, kill your wife?"

    It's pretty spot on.

    14. And April channeling Leslie:

    dressed in one of Leslie's pantsuits, April says, "As Eleanor Roosevelt once said to Betty Ford, Hillary Clinton is great!" then gives everyone friendship bracelets and says "Now I guess we're park pals!"

    She should've gotten a Michelle Obama reference in there.

    15. Eleanor imitating Jason and then Jason trying to imitate Eleanor (while they're all Janets) in The Good Place:

    dressed as Janet Jason, Eleanor Jason says "I couldn't help but overhear...hey, if we hear with our ears, why is it called butt overhearing?" then talks about Jason's dance crew in Jacksonville, then Jason calls out "I'm Arizona shrimp horny!"

    D'Arcy Carden was absolutely amazing this episode, where she played almost all the main characters and even played them impersonating each other, as seen above.

    16. Jade imitating Cat on Victorious:

    Jade, holding Cat's mouth closed, says "Hiii! Are you and Beck having fun?" on the phone to Tori, who says "Yeah but you know, not too much fun" and Jade imitates Cat's laugh

    You just gotta watch this one, because her voice is too good and the screencaps don't do it justice.

    17. Miley imitating Jackson on Hannah Montana:

    Jackson says "Good day! I said, good day, Daddy!"

    One of my favorite tropes has got to be a character imitating one of another character's catchphrases.

    18. Joey imitating Ross on Friends:

    Joey says, "Pretty soon you'll be like" (sad voice) 'Hiii. Oh, I can't go. Rachel and Mark might be there'"

    Aaand here we have another prime example of the trope.

    19. And finally, Esteban imitating Mr. Moseby on The Suite Life of Zack & Cody:

    Esteban pretends to be both himself and Mr. Moseby pretending Mr. Moseby is firing him then giving him a raise, as Mr. Moseby, unable to speak, watches helplessly in annoyance

    It's honestly wild how good this impersonation was.
