Color coordinating my hair to my outfits is kind of my thing

This was our 12th grade farewell in India or as you guys call it, prom. Rules were that the girls had to wear traditional attire and boys had to wear formals. I ended up walking in with stilettos and suspenders in true rebellious style. It's definitely something worth breaking the rules for.

i’m wearing a priyanka chopra anarkali indian dress to prom this year that i altered to add sleeves to accommodate my muslim-ness. it’s an old eid dress but it’s honestly more gorgeous that many dresses i see in american stores for a much higher price.

my high school boyfriend was a duct tape artist so he made me a dress in my favorite color! he literally taped me into it and i was a sweaty mess underneath but it was totally worth it! his hat, vest, and tie and my corsage were also all made from duct tape.

I wore a ball gown because I like the style of old holleywood Audrey Hepburn feel

One of my peers convinced me to wear an Indian dress to prom.

Vintage gown. Opera gloves. Hoop skirt underneath.

I chose something more grown up than what was the style at my school - big princess millennial pink dresses. I saw this dress in the store and I knew, everything about it suited me. The top was dark maroon with V sequins, and it faded into a bright red to a dark maroon at the bottom.

A few years ago before two piece dresses were really popular. I love the skirt! (Broke up with the boy, and James would’ve been a better date anyways)

I made my own prom outfit out of a cardigan and two different skirts from a secondhand shop. And 2 years later I'm at my second semester studying fashion design

Prom season is here and we're psyched!

Besides elaborate promposals, one of the things we look forward to the most, is seeing people's outfits. The youth is creative AF!

And though when you think of prom outfits, dresses and tuxes come to mind, we want to know if you wore something ~unconventional.~

Maybe you decided to defy gender roles and ditched the dress for something more ~you.~

Or maybe you chose to match with your best friend, instead of your date.

Perhaps you decided to go to prom last minute and made a dress the night before with $15 worth of tulle.

Or maybe you decided to take the the fancy PJ's trend to prom.
